So ya...it's been a while

So uh, ya, like it's been a while now. I've written countless blog posts with full intentions of posting them, and then....didn't! I am awful and should be punished, but please, if you must, ensure that the whip is of high quality leather, could be too painful otherwise. :-)

If you're wondering what you're looking at, it's my BBQ. This is a true testament to my penultimate laziness. First, I failed to bring my BBQ safely out of the cold prior to winter coming. Second, instead of slaving away to make a snowman, I placed a mini carot for a nose and some dead grass for eyes to create a snowman from my BBQ. Kinda looks like it's smilin' at ya, doesn't i? I like that. A happy BBQ.
So Christmas is upon us. Thankfully this year, there's snow for it. It's been a few years since we actually had snow for the holidays. I've even had the chance to go skiing a couple times already and plan to go again today. I went with B+ and my daughter and one of her friends to the downhill on Saturday. The kid wants to learn to snowboard so I put her in a lesson to see if she was going to like it before I purchace all the gear. $$$$ And damnit, would you know it, she loves it. Now I'm going to be out quite a few bucks, but it's the first thing she's expressed an interest in learning, so I'm going to encourage it all the way even if I have to break the bank to do it. :-)
I tried out my new to me downhill skiis. WOW, it's been a few years. Also, the skis I have are a bit too agressive for my style of "easy does it down the hill" skiing. Maybe I should try snowboarding too.
Here's my thought du jour: You can get heated seats for your car, but you can't get a heated stearing wheel. Why is that? My hands are colder than my butt.

Still goin strong

To start, B+ and I took a road trip on the weekend to look at a nice chunk of waterfront property in Nova Scotia. What a trip. We planned to do it in one day, and we did, but what a long day it was. There was no snow here in Fredericton, but by the time we hit Moncton, it was snowing pretty hard, and by the time we got to Amherst, it was a blizzard practically. The driving was slow going.

We did make it to the property, and it was fabulous. 160 acres on the bay of Fundy. The realtor had a Subaru and was able to take us up the mountainous terrain to see most of the property, but we had to walk the rest of the way to the beach cuz there was just too much snow, and we couldn't see what we were driving over. The road is basically just a dirt logging road anyways. the land is nothing but land, trees, hills and beach.

When we got to the beach, the roar of the waves rolling in made it impossible to hear anything. Apparently, there is 5 islands just off shore belonging to a park that we can kayak too on a good day. Conbined with the wind and giant slow flakes being flung into our faces at mock-4, it was quite the trek. We stood on the beach yelling at each other over the noise trying to ask what we each thought of it. It was funny. but I think it was a "had to be there" moment.

So, the picture above is the bridge over the river (low tide) that feeds into the ocean on the property.

So, updates... B+ and I are great. He's fabulous and thinks that I am as well, and well jeez, what more can you ask for?

The kid is suffering a bit. Her dad has not called since the summer and spent zero time with her during the summer. She was only there two weeks and he spent only one day with her. Jackass. I think she's taking it pretty hard. She's doing pretty good in school though, even has her own laptop in school that she gets to keep with her till she done grade 8.

I lost my credit card, less than a month away from Christmas, and I have no money. That sucks. I also got a notice in the mail that my tax return was reevaluated and I owe the government 314.00 by December 17, 2007. WHAT? I wonder how many times, my return was recalculated and they owed ME more money and never saw a dime?? I bet it's it happened more than once. Also, they recalculated at my current salary, which is higher than it was for the fiscal year of my tax return . Trust me, I'll be contacting my accountant and I wont be happy. I want some answers, cuz the explanation the government sent me and the breakdown of my tax reeval, seemed like load of bullshit.

So, what else is new? I have people working under me now. They are interns from the college in Mirimichi. Two guys, they are great to work with. They work hard and they are fun to have around.

What's new with the rest of you? I haven't been to blogger in soo long. I have been remiss. I have not read and kept up with your lives. My time at work is filled with interns and work. My time at home is filled with the kid and B+ and gal friends. I"m going to try, hopefully you'll be hearing from me soon to a blog comment near you.
